New contract cuts Disney stores’ rent at airport


Walt Disney Parks & Resorts has a new contract that allows it to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars a year less for its gift shops at Orlando International Airport, even though the number of travelers there has grown by nearly one-third since the leases were last negotiated a decade ago.

The new contract reduces the minimum rent that Disney pays on its two stores in the airport’s main terminal and is also expected to reduce the percentage of sales that Disney pays for the privilege of selling souvenirs to travelers passing through the nation’s 13th-largest airport.
