Look for classic Scottish dishes that are still in the development phase, but the cocktail of choice will be a Rusty Nail, a popular Scotch whisky martini that is simply Scotch and Drambuie. Scotland is just one of more than 25 ethnic and specialized marketplaces – and we’re happy that Brazil returns this year, a crowd favorite that was missing in 2012.

Hawaii is back with the fab pork slider, as well as the vegan Terra Marketplace that debuted last year.

Favorite celeb chefs are back. Look for Jamie Deen, Robert Irvine, Gale Gand, Art Smith, Buddy Valastro, Bryan Voltaggio, Warren Brown and others to make appearances at special events and on stage in the Festival Center. Wine tastings, mixology seminars, cheese seminars, live entertainment and the engaging Ocean Spray Cranberry Bog give guests of all ages plenty to see and do. More than 270 chefs and culinary stars from the U.S. will be there.

Edward Meyer, Ripley’s vice president of exhibits and archives, will be on hand to make offers for personal belongings.

“We are hoping to find something that we can buy and put in our museums, not just here in Orlando, but in our whole collection,” he says.”We’re shopping for the whole company.”

Owners of oddities planning to attend the Ripley’s event, should email Johnson@ripleys.com in advance with details on the items for sale. This will help Ripley’s researchers determine its rarity and its value.

The Orlando kick-off to the Bizarre Buying Bazaar will operate at 8201 International Drive from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 7-8. It’s open to the public, but folks wanting to tour the museum will have to pay regular admission.

The mad scientists from Blue Man Group and Harman International take us where no children’s museum exhibit has gone before in “Blue Man Group—Making Waves.” The exhibit features a playful and accessible approach to the science of sound and light, utilizing extraordinary technology from JBL with the dynamic Blue Man Group as your guide.

Visitors of all ages are able to play unique Blue Man Group instruments such as entry tubes, sand and belly drums, a theremin organ, PVCs, and many more. The exhibit encourages playful learning through sensory engagement and interactive entertainment, providing a multi-sensory exploration of sound for the whole family.

Admission is $19 for adults and $13 for youth (ages 3–11) and includes access to “Blue Man Group—Making Waves” as well as all four floors of exhibits, giant-screen films in the Dr. Phillips CineDome, one Hollywood feature-length film in the Digital Adventure Theater: A National Geographic Experience and live programming.

For the first time ever – anywhere – fans will be able to walk down Fast Food Boulevard and visit the places that helped Springfield stake its claim as “Shelbyville by the Sea.” They will be able to grab a Krusty-certified meat sandwich at Krusty Burger, snatch the catch of the day at the Frying Dutchman, get a slice at Luigi’s Pizza, go nuts for donuts at Lard Lad, enjoy a “Taco Fresho” with Bumblebee Man and imbibe at Moe’s Tavern.

The new attraction – called Kang & Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl – will take “foolish humans” on an intergalactic spin designed to send them into orbit.

“This will be a must-see experience for Simpsons fans all over the world,” said Mark Woodbury, President of Universal Creative. “For the first time ever, they’re going to be able to enter a world that they’ve only seen on television – and we’re really excited to bring that world to life.”

National touring exhibit featuring Blue Man Group opening in Orlando

Blue Man Group—Making Waves, the national touring exhibit supported by Harman/Becker Automotive Systems, created by the Boston Children’s Museum and Blue Man Group, and powered by JBL®, will open at Orlando Science Center on Saturday, May 25. The 1,500-square-foot exhibit—designed to bring together science and art—will take the whole family through a multi-sensory exploration of sound that provides an opportunity to play together while discovering the fun of music.

Onstage, the Blue Man is one-part inquisitive child, one-part trickster and one-part superhero on a journey of discovery. Throughout Blue Man Group—Making Waves, families are encouraged to learn, play and explore with the same curiosity as these renowned performing artists.

Co-founder of Blue Man Group Chris Wink says, “After years of being able to express ourselves creatively on stage, it has become increasingly important to us to develop experiences that encourage and expand the creative development of others—particularly children and their parents. We’re very excited to see this exhibit come to life with JBL technology, and who better to demonstrate the true value of understanding quality sound than Harman.”

At the Slide-u-lum, Build-u-lum, Sand Drum and Theramin, children will have an opportunity to see, feel and create sound. At the PVC Station, visitors of all ages will have a chance to play the unique Blue Man Group instruments while learning how sound works. The whole experience culminates in the JBL®-equipped Surround Sound Theater where engineering genius combines with a short musical piece by Blue Man Group to illustrate the elements of sound.

On select dates during the summer, the Blue Man Group will make appearances at the Science Center including interacting with guests in the exhibit, conducting paint and music workshops, and hosting a homemade instrument contest. Details to be released at a later date.

The exhibit will be at Orlando Science Center through the summer.

The highly anticipated blockbuster attraction TRANSFORMERS: The Ride – 3D will officially open on Thursday, June 20, 2013.

Universal also launched an all-new “Join the Resistance” Facebook experience to prepare fans for the battle they’ll experience on the mega-attraction.  “Recruits” can create their very own NEST IDs, train for battle, access exclusive photos and video and win prizes – including a trip to the attraction’s grand opening celebration on June 20.  Click here to join the resistance.

TRANSFORMERS: The Ride – 3D is a mind-blowing, action-packed ride experience that pushes the limits of technology to place guests in the middle of a larger-than-life battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons. The ride was created under license from Hasbro, Inc. and is based on its iconic TRANSFORMERS brand.

The battle begins when guests enter the NEST facility – the headquarters for the government operation that partners with the Autobots to protect Earth from the Decepticons.  While inside, they are recruited to help protect the AllSpark – a powerful energy source that would allow the Decepticons to destroy the planet. Guests board EVAC – an Autobot created exclusively for the attraction – to transport the AllSpark to safety.  But beware…the Decepticons are in close pursuit…

World’s First Centrally Themed, Multi-Park Experience

Building on the global phenomenon that is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Universal Orlando Resort and Warner Bros. Entertainment today announced an expansion of historic proportion with the entirely new themed environment,

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley.

Scheduled to open in 2014, the world’s first centrally themed, multi-park experience expands The Wizarding World of Harry Potter across both Universal Orlando theme parks and allows Universal’s creative team to bring an unparalleled vision to this unique project. The new area will bring to life some of the experiences and places found in and around London in the Harry Potter books and films, offering brand-new adventures for fans and theme park guests from around the world.

Diagon Alley and ‘London’ will be located within the Universal Studios Florida theme park, which is adjacent to Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park, where guests now experience Hogwarts and Hogsmeade. The new area within Universal Studios will be just as expansive, immersive and authentic as the existing themed environment.

And – just like in the books and films – guests will be able to travel between ‘London’ and Hogsmeade aboard the Hogwarts Express.

Work on the new area is already underway. When complete, it will feature shops, a restaurant and an innovative, marquee attraction based on Gringotts bank – all directly inspired by the fiction and films.

To bring Diagon Alley and ‘London’ to life, Universal’s creative team is working closely with Warner Bros. and the production design team from the Harry Potter films – just as it did for Hogwarts and Hogsmeade.

“I’m so pleased that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has proved so popular to date, and I’m sure that the attention to detail in creating the new Diagon Alley area will make this an even better experience,” said J.K. Rowling.

Rowling and the blockbuster feature films from Warner Bros. Since that time, it has become a global phenomenon, entertaining millions of people from around the world.

Visitors to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter are swept into the adventures of Harry Potter. They can tour Hogwarts castle, shop in Hogsmeade and dine at the Three Broomsticks. They can soar above Hogwarts with Harry, be chosen by a wand at Ollivanders, sample Butterbeer and much more.
