Bok Tower Gardens are  going to the dogs for a good cause on Saturday, September 8!

Leashed and friendly dogs will be invited to visit to help support the Humane Society of Polk County, which will receive 50% of the event proceeds.

Tips on health, safety, dog grooming and adoption, as well as some special friends who need a good home will be available from 9 a.m. to noon. “Ask a Vet” and “Ask a Trainer” experts will be on hand to answer questions and doggie boutique items will be for sale, in addition to pet adoptions, micro-chipping and vaccinations. Judges will select the cutest, most unusual, owner look-a-like, most talented and best kisser dogs with prizes provided for the top three winners in each category. Water bowls will be located throughout the Gardens.

“Dogs are such an important member in many of our families. We welcome them to the Gardens on this day to not only help the Humane Society, but also as a way to encourage families to get out in nature with their pets,” explains David Price, Gardens’ president.

This event is sponsored in part by Veterinary Healthcare Associates and The New Barker Magazine.

$5 per dog. 50% of proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Polk County. Dog admission includes a doggie gift bag. All dogs must be on a leash and owners must dispose of pet waste. All dogs are welcome to visit, but must get along well with others.

Activities included with paid admission. Regular human admission rates apply.
